Winterreise and more

This month is packed with exciting events. On March 6th we are premiering an entirely new chamber music version of Bartók’s Bluebeard’s Castle. Soloist parts are done by mezzo soprano Hege Høisæter and bass Magne Fremmerlid, whilst the orchestra score is transcribed to piano and organ by organist Lars Notto Birkeland and myself over the course of two years. The premiere will be in the magnificent Fartein Valen (Main Hall) in Stavanger konserthus.

Directly after Stavanger I will be heading to Tromsø for my first ever performance of Schubert’s hauntingly beautiful Winterreise together with barytone Halvor Festervoll Melien, in the beautiful, newly restored Rødbanken — a perfect venue for Lieder. We will be repeating the performance in Larvik, Oslo and Ramme from 18-20th March.

The following weekend, from 26-27th March, I will be touring western Norway with performances of Grieg’s Haugtussa together with soprano Eir Inderhaug and actor Ola B. Johannessen.

Exciting days! As always, visit Schedule for tickets and more info on upcoming events.

Yours,
Thormod
